Get French Football News understands that Aleksandr Golovin (27) has suffered an ankle sprain, whilst the duration of his absence has not yet been confirmed, L’Équipe understands that the Russian playmaker will not feature again for AS Monaco this season.
Golovin has been one of the major sources of creativity in the Monaco side this season. The former CSKA Moscow midfielder has featured on 25 occasions for Les Monégasques, scoring six goals and registering six assists. It has been Golovin’s most accomplished season at the Principality club, however, it has now ended on a bitter note after he suffered an ankle sprain in training.
There are just six games remaining for Monaco before the end of the Ligue 1 season on 18th May. L’Équipe have put Golovin’s period of absence at approximately five weeks, meaning the Russia international would not recover in time to feature again this season. Ahead of Sunday’s match against Stade Brestois, Monaco are third but they could leapfrog their opponents into second in the event of a victory at the Stade Franci Le Blé.
