FC Barcelona have already signed a new goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, who will not only be the starter for Hansi Flick from the next season but also can be the long-term defender of the Blaugrana goal.
However, this acquisition creates significant problems for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was the starter at the start of the last season, but who will be third in the goalkeeper pecking order by the start of the next season, as Wojciech Szczesny is set to be Garcia’s backup.
In such a scenario, the German goalkeeper is facing a very uncertain future at the Catalan club. However, his stature in European football means he has no shortage of offers from other notable clubs across the continent.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the latest such offer has come from the Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, which is engaged in negotiations with Barcelona for the loan of Ansu Fati.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility that the Principality club has also already talked to the Blaugranes for the goalkeeper, taking advantage of their meetings for Fati’s loan, and also with Ter Stegen himself to explore the possibility of a transfer.
The sporting officials of Monaco have been keeping an eye on Ter Stegen and the Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana for quite some time now.
The German goalkeeper has remained silent on this approach, however, as he currently wants to stay at Barcelona. However, he can still think of this option in the future, as Monaco will offer him Champions League football.
As far as the two clubs are concerned, there is not expected to be a lot of problems in negotiations for the goalkeeper’s transfer, as the Catalans will get rid of his salary. Although the Ligue 1 club is also keeping an eye on some other options, ter Stegen is certainly the most attractive one for them.
