The Rams have been closing in on the leading pack in recent weeks, moving up to 4th in the table as they continue their winning run.

But it could be a busy summer ahead for which planning will need to begin in earnest soon.

Here we look at the players who will leave Derby at the end of the season, as it stands…

Jason Knight

Knight is one of the club’s most impressive young talents, and has become a leader in the side at just 21-years of age.

But the Irishman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

However the club does hold the option for a further year that has yet to be triggered so he may yet remain at Pride Park beyond this season.

David McGoldrick

McGoldrick signed for Derby as a free agent in the summer on a one-year deal that expires again in 2023.

The forward has nine goals and two assists in 21 appearances, which makes him a useful asset to have in the squad, but it remains to be seen where his future lies beyond this campaign.

James Chester

Chester signed a one-year contract extension with Derby last summer, which is set to expire in 2023.

The 34-year old has only featured six times in the league this season, so this could be the year his two-year stint with the Rams comes to an end.

Craig Forsyth

Forsyth is in the same boat as Chester, having renewed his deal for a further year in 2022.

The defender has been a more prominent presence in the side, so could yet sign a new deal, but as things stand he will depart the club this summer.

Curtis Davies

Davies has been with the club since 2017, but has seen his playing time reduced this year following a one-year contract extension last year.

The defender is still an important dressing room presence given his experience, but this could be the year his time with the club comes to an end.

Real Fake

Richard Stearman

Stearman signed to the club as a free agent in 2021 one an initial one-year deal that was extended for a further 12 months last summer.

The Welshman has played in 10 league games, making just six starts, and at 35-years old it may be time for the League One side to start thinking about moving away from the defender in the summer.

Scott Loach

The 34-year old has been a secondary option for Derby, and is yet to feature for the first team in the league this season.

Given his age and lack of game time, it is highly likely that this will be Loach’s one and only season with Derby.

Loan players

Derby brought in a number of loan players between the summer and January windows.

The likes of Harvey White, Haydon Roberts, Lewis Dobbin, Luke McGee and Tony Springett all signed on a temporary basis until the end of this season.
