20:40 – A lot of people thought it would be the Bayern Munich striker, and he deserves it after an amazing season. It’s not quite the Ballon d’Or but it will have to do. Congratulations Lewy!

20:37 – And the winner is … Robert Lewandowski!

20:36 – OK, hold onto your hats, it’s The Best Men’s Player award time! The three nominees look nervous, and so are we.

20:35 – Sorry Ceejay, he doesn’t even follow us!

20:34 – Unequivocal from Grace …

20:32 – The Best Men’s Player award is coming up next. Will it be Robert Lewandowski? Lionel Messi? Cristiano Ronaldo? We’ll soon find out.

20:31 – What a player the England and Man City star is, who won the Champions League with Lyon in 2020. Simply world class.

20:28 – And the winner is … Lucy Bronze!

20:27 – The nominees for The Best Women’s Player are Lucy Bronze, Pernille Harder and Wendie Renard.

20:26 – It’s finally time for the Best Players awards. They’re gonna start with the Women’s award and while we wait, here’s another shout for the Men’s award …

20:25 – Hugs to Botucatu!

20:24 – This ceremony has been going on for a long time now. Beginning to wonder whether it will be over in time for us to watch Manchester United v Sheffield United.

20:22 – They’re currently paying tribute to the late Paolo Rossi. We’ll let you know when they start handing out awards again, don’t worry.

20:21 – Someone disagrees with the Puskás Award winner …

20:20 – Just gonna leave this here …

20:19 – Valentin explains it all …

20:16 – Let’s see if someone up there likes CR7 🙏

20:15 – Robbo was robbed!

20:15 – Controversial!

20:12 – We will not stand for any cookie hatred on this live blog 😅

20:09 – It’s Maradona tribute time now but instead of crying, we’re gonna share some of your tweets …

20:04 – And the FIFPRO Men’s World XI is …

Alisson Becker

Trent Alexander-Arnold Virgil Van Dijk Sergio Ramos Alphonso Davies

Joshua Kimmich Kevin De Bruyne Thiago Alcantara

Lionel Messi Robert Lewandowski Cristiano Ronaldo

Wowzers!

19:57 – OK, FIFPRO Women’s World XI time …

Christiane Endler

Lucy Bronze Wendie Renard Millie Bright

Tobin Heath Veronica Boquete Barbara Bonansea Megan Rapinoe

Delphine Cascarino Viviane Miedema Pernille Harder

That is some team!

19:56 – And now someone who doesn’t think Messi or Lewandowski should win the Men’s Player award …

19:53 – They’re going to name the FIFPRO Men’s and Women’s World XIs shortly, but first they’re paying tribute to record breaking Canada Women’s star Christine Sinclair.

Sinclair is the world’s all-time leader for international goals scored for men or women with 186 goals, and is the most-capped active international footballer with 296 caps.

19:52 – Finally, someone who doesn’t think Lewandowski should win the Men’s Player award!

19:49 – And it goes to this guy …

He looks delighted but his audio feed is breaking and they can’t hear what he’s saying in the studio.

19:48 – They’re handing out the Fifa Fan award now. According to Fifa’s website, this is: “A shortlist of candidates for the 2020 Fifa Fan Award, recognising an outstanding fan moment or gesture, has been compiled by a panel of experts.”

19:47 – Victor isn’t happy with Klopp winning the Men’s Coach award, and he makes a great point. Flick won a treble in his first 10 months as a head coach. He’s very unlucky to miss out tonight.

Valentin makes a good point too though …

19:46 – There’s a lot of love for Lewy on Twitter tonight. He’s surely going to win it, isn’t he?

19:44 – It’s time for the FIFA Fair Play award now, which goes to a young boy from Italy called Mattia Agnese who gave first aid to an opponent during a match. Fair play.

19:43 – Klopp just paid a lovely tribute to former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier. What a legend. RIP.

19:41 – Another prediction for The Best Men’s Player award. Keep sending us your observations!

19:40 – Kloppo wins it for the second year running after guiding Liverpool to their first league title for 30 years last season. He looked shocked to win it but it’s well deserved.

19:37 – And the winner is … Jürgen Klopp!

19:36 – The Best Men’s Coach award time now. The nominees are Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa, Bayern Munich’s Hansi Flick and Liverpool Jürgen Klopp.

19:34 – Wiegman has just been appointed coach of the England Women’s team, starting next year. Not only is she an amazing coach, her pronunciation of “a-gile” is just excellent.

19:31 – And the winner is … Sarina Wiegman!

19:30 – It’s time for The Best Women’s Coach award. The nominees are … Chelsea’s Emma Hayes, Lyon’s Jean-Luc Vasseur and the Netherlands’ Sarina Wiegman.

19:29 – Ruud Gullit just asked Arsene what it takes to be a world class coach. “Resistance to stress” was one of his answers. Looks like he’s still suffering Arsenal PTSD.

19:28 – Arsene Wenger is on stage looking rather dapper now. Remember he’s the Fifa Global Development secretary now.

19:25 – And the winner is … Son Heung-min! For his goal against Burnley!

19:24 – You can watch all the nominees for the Puskás Award here. Our money is on Luis Suarez, but let’s find out.

19:22 – It’s Puskás Award time now, my favourite!

19:20 – Now they’re interviewing Manuel. The questions are being asked in German but he’s answering in English, which is a little strange.

19:18 – And the winner is … Manuel Neuer!

19:17 – Time for The Best Men’s Goalkeeper award. The nominees are Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak.

19:16 – They’re currently interviewing Sarah but it’s all in French and I can’t remember much of it from school unfortunately. Ou est le swimming pool?

19:13 – And The Best Women’s Goalkeeper is … Lyon’s Sarah Bouhaddi!

19:12 – While we wait for that one, here’s Oliver with the first prediction of the night …

19:11 – Here we go, it’s time to hand out the first awards … The Best Men’s and Women’s Goalkeeper!

19:10 – Rashford has been presented with the Fifa Foundation Award and Fifa have also pledged $100,000 to his campaign. Credit to all involved.

19:08 – Now they’re talking to Marcus Rashford about all the work he’s done to combat child hunger this year. Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them wear Manchester United shirts.

19:06 – Fifa president Gianni Infantino is paying tribute to Diego Maradona and Paolo Rossi via video link right now. It’s suddenly got a bit dusty in here.

19:03 – Will Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo be recognised tonight? This video breaks down the year they’ve both had …

18:57 – With no Ballon d’Or this year we’ll have to make do with just the one awards ceremony, and it promises to be an interesting night.
