Vidal has forged an unbelievable career that has seen him make major impacts at Leverkusen, Juventus, and Bayern Munich, winning league titles in his last seven seasons as a professional.
Vidal, however, has failed to make much of an impact so far at Barcelona since joining from Bayern over the summer. The Chilean has only made two starts and was substituted off before the hour-mark in each contest.
The 31-year-old recently voiced his displeasure over a lack of playing time, much to the chagrin of the Blaugrana.
Now, he’s in the headlines again following Chile’s embarrassing 3-0 loss against Peru. In an interview with Univision, he made a stunning claim about his future… in Mexico of all places.
“Sure, I love Mexican football and later if there is something good and an important team would like to have me, I would think about it a lot.
“It would really be a pleasure to come to Mexico to play for a club like América. América is a good team, a nice team, I would love it,” the Chilean confessed.
Vidal is under contract with Barcelona until 2021 and insisted that his focus remains on performing well for his current club.
“I don’t think about the future, but I will leave the door open for Mexico which is a country I really like. For now, I only think about the present.”
