Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo has remained in his home country Brazil and is refusing to return to training with the Catalan club, according to Sport.

Barça are currently preparing for their Champions League match at Camp Nou with Napoli on August 8.

The club doesn’t agree with the player’s stance and have opened disciplinary proceedings against him which could lead to the biggest fine in the history of the club. Next week, the 23-year-old’s lawyers will begin talks with Barça and present their own allegations. The Blaugrana will then make a decision on the player’s future.

Arthur grew frustrated at being left out of the club’s starting XI after his transfer to Juventus was confirmed in June.
