Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger has issued a warning to the rest of the football world over the future of Erling Haaland in light of his latest goalscoring showing.

The Norway international further added to his blistering start to the ongoing season on Wednesday night as he put two goals past a helpless Sparta Prague side in UEFA Champions League action.

The first of his brace came in sensational, individual fashion as Haaland converted stellar work and a cross from Savinho with a scorpion kick beyond the Sparta Prague goalkeeper, with his back to the opposition goal.

His second would then illustrate his devastating ability on the run, finishing off a fine Manchester City move that saw them work the ball from back to front, and scoring past the Czech opposition from Matheus Nunes’ lay-off.

But given Haaland is only 24-years-old, there remains the daunting prospect of the player becoming one of the finest goalscorers in the history of the game, and also continuing in his ongoing vein of form for at least another decade.

Speaking during beIN SPORTS’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League this week, Arsene Wenger has warned that Erling Haaland is still a ‘beginner’ in the game, and could still have at least 14 years of sensational goalscoring form to come.

“[Erling] Haaland is a physical monster,” Wenger said. “He has the instinct, timing, scoring outstanding goals; control with the left-foot, finish with the right.”

The former Gunners boss continued, “And as well, Haaland is still a beginner in football – not in his qualities, exceptional quality – but imagine that Haaland has 13, 14 years to play!”

Manchester City remain keen to ensure that the future of Erling Haaland remains at the Etihad Stadium, and are intent on recognising his stellar couple of seasons at the club with a new and improved contractual arrangement.

Some within the game believe that Haaland’s deal could be extended through to the summer of 2029, but with the inclusion of a release clause embedded into the agreement that protects his market value and leaves his future firmly in the hands of himself and his representatives.

Manchester City will likely have no problem with such demand, given that they were informed of such a matter when they signed the striker from Borussia Dortmund via a £52 million release clause at the Bundesliga club.
