Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney sends farewell message to Real Sociedad | OneFootball

Real Sociedad star Kieran Tierney has taken to social media, to send a farewell message to the club.

As much comes ahead of the defender’s imminent return to parent club Arsenal.

Left-back Tierney of course linked up with La Real last summer, as part of a season-long loan deal from Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

And the Scottish international went on to endure something of a hit-and-miss spell in San Sebastián.

Though he for the most part impressed when on the pitch for Imanol’s outfit, Tierney was again hampered by injury problems, restricting him to just 17 starts across all competitions.

It therefore came as little surprise when word was forthcoming that the brass at Anoeta had come to the decision not to seek out a permanent transfer this summer.

Tierney, as a result, took to the pitch for the final time in Real Sociedad’s colours on Saturday, en route to txuri-urdin’s 2-0 La Liga defeat at the hands of Atlético Madrid.

And, 24 hours on, he has moved to bid a fond farewell to all associated with the club.

In a post on his official Instagram account, Tierney unveiled a heartfelt message to ‘everyone who makes up Real Sociedad’:

“Thank you very much to everyone who makes up Real Sociedad. What an incredible and special club! It is an honor to have been part of it. Despite the frustration and bad moments due to injuries, I have given everything every time I have gone out on the green and you have supported me along the way. It has been impressive to be part of a team that has made history by qualifying for Europe for the fifth time in a row. Eskerrik asko, we will see you again.”
