England are part of Group D at the u17 Euros this summer, the last of the four groups, so they took to the pitch on Tuesday night having already seen 12 of the 16 teams at the tournament play their opening game.

That included Arsenal’s Chido Martin Obi with Denmark, who scored his team’s opening goal against Wales to send them to the top of Group B.

The young Lions have also been handed a very tricky group, with major football countries Portugal, Spain, and France to compete against.

Yet that clearly didn’t create any pressure for the England side in their opening fixture against France, as they ran riot to go top of the group.

Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri started the match, playing a more advanced role on this occasion.

The youngster tends to split his time between midfield and centre-forward in youth football, and this was much more of the latter, playing alongside Port Vale’s Baylee Dipepa in a strike partnership.

Within two minutes, Nwaneri had played a minor role in the opening goal, playing the ball to Leo Shahar on the right-hand side, who crossed for Mikey Moore to head in the opening goal.

The Arsenal man was more heavily involved in the second, as his driving run and shot rebounded to Dipepa to score.

Moore made it 3-0 in the 39th minute to ensure a dominant half-time lead, before Nwaneri got the goal his performance deserved early in the second half.

With just over 50 minutes on the clock, Nwaneri picked up the ball on the edge of the area before curling into the top corner.

Nwaneri came off in the 81st minute with the job done, and the match finished 4-0. You can watch the highlights here.
