Arsenal have updated their website with new shirt numbers for deadline-day loan signings Norberto Neto and Raheem Sterling, with Neto taking the 32 shirt and Sterling taking 30.

The Gunners had a number of different options available, including 1, 10, 13, 14, 16, 25, 26, and 28.

21 (Vieira), 24 (Nelson), 27 (Marquinhos), and 31 (Hein) were also technically available, though only because their usual holders are out on loan.

But Arsenal evidently opted not to use the lower numbers for temporary signings. It would have been strange for Neto to receive the number-one shirt, or Sterling to get 10.

With Ramsdale gone, David Raya will likely get the number one eventually, but he’s already started the new campaign with 22.

The number 13 also could have been a good choice for Neto, but perhaps the club are saving that for the permanent backup to Raya.

The club have been heavily linked with Joan Garcia, and they could perhaps make another move for the Espanyol goalkeeper in January.

In other Arsenal squad news, the club have removed Omar Rekik’s profile from the squad page on the website.

There has been no official confirmation of Rekik’s departure, but he reportedly terminated his contract by mutual consent on deadline day.
