Just a week after losing Alexis Sánchez, Arsenal have bounced back in a major way on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners sealed the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang around lunchtime.
And, as reported by the BBC’s very reliable David Ornsetin, they also signed Mesut Özil to a new deal.
Özil’s current contract is set to expire in the summer and for a long time it looked as if he was going to leave the club.
But the BBC say he has agreed to remain at the Emirates for a further three and a half years.
He will become the highest-paid player in club history, taking in about £350,000 per week.
An official announcement could arrive shortly.
