Arsenal’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final tie against London City Lionesses has been postponed.

The decision was made to call the game off this afternoon following a pitch inspection at Princes Park.

While the weather forecast for the remainder of the day is favourable, recent heavy rain has left the playing surface waterlogged. With a sell-out crowd expected to attend the tie, an early decision was made to postpone the fixture.

A new date and kick-off time for the tie will be agreed in due course. With neither side having a midweek fixture next week, the game may be rescheduled at the very earliest opportunity.

Both sides will now turn their attention towards preparing for Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round ties this weekend. Arsenal are scheduled to play host to Barclays Women’s Super League title rivals Manchester City while London City Lionesses are at home to Liverpool. There is further rain forecast in the coming days but London City Lionesses will be hoping that the Princes Park pitch drains for the weekend.

There are three other FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final ties that are scheduled to be played this evening. At this stage, those games are set to go ahead.
