Last season, Bukayo Saka was comfortably one of the best players in the Premier League.

The young winger became Arsenal‘s go-to man throughout 2021/22, scoring 11 goals and assisting seven more in 38 league appearances.

Saka rippled the back of the net in matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, proving to the world that he’s already a big-game player at the age of just 20.

What makes Saka’s heroic efforts in an Arsenal shirt last season even more special is the fact they came after he endured the worst possible experience a professional footballer can go through.

The London-born forward’s penalty miss in the Euro 2020 final shootout against Italy condemned England to a heartbreaking defeat at Wembley Stadium.

In the aftermath of the game, Saka was tragically subjected to racial abuse on social media.

But Arsenal and the rest of the footballing world rallied around him, which was just great to see.

And one young fan named Teddy went above and beyond to help Saka in his darkest hour.

He sent a letter to Saka after the Euro 2020 final to cheer the player up and even included his pocket money in the package.

Heartwarming, right?

In the Arsenal’s ‘All or Nothing’ documentary on Amazon Prime, we got to see Saka’s response to Teddy and the snippet of footage from the series is just brilliant.

You just love to see it.

Saka has such a mature head on young shoulders and it’s part of the reason why he’s adored by the Arsenal fanbase.

To borrow a cliche, ‘he just gets it’.

Arsenal supporters will be desperate for Saka to put pen to paper on a new contract sooner rather than later, with his current deal set to expire in 2024.

Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with a move for him, although it’s more than likely he’ll remain in north London, as he “loves the club” according to Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s always Liverpool rumours, this is what I was asking and the answer I received was that Bukayo loves Arsenal,” Romano previously said when he was a guest on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

“He loves the club, he’s a good guy and a genuine guy, and this is why he’s not planning to leave in the summer. He’s not focused on a new deal now because he wants to focus on the season, but at the end of the season he will have a meeting with Arsenal and discuss a new deal.”
