With football postponed for the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Arsenal’s all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing the right winger.

Here are the nominees …

3rd – Theo Walcott

“But he never reached his potential!” – stop right there. Theo Walcott had an impressive Arsenal career and here is why.

Signed as a quiet teenager from Southampton in 2006, he developed into a prolific winger who scored goals, provided assists and scared even the greatest backlines with intelligent outside-to-inside movement.

Yes there were periods of inconsistency and injury troubles. But he scored 108 goals for the club – one of only 19 players to ever do so.

Walcott made 398 appearances across eight seasons, winning two FA Cup titles. Plus he loved netting against Tottenham.

2nd – Ray Parlour

Did someone say cult hero? Ray Parlour deserves a mention not just for his personality, but for his talent as well.

Nicknamed “the Romford Pele”, his tireless running made him an instant fans’ favourite, but he had some memorable moments as well – including a hat-trick against Werder Bremen in 2000 and an FA Cup final screamer in 2002.

Parlour made 466 appearances for Arsenal during a 12-year stay, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.

And the winner is … Freddie Ljungberg

Signed as a relative unknown from BK Halmstad, Freddie Ljungberg would go on to become an influential figure at Arsenal.

He introduced himself to Highbury with a debut strike against Manchester United, and despite not being the tallest or quickest, his incredible movement (and relationship with Dennis Bergkamp) saw him net 72 goals for the club.

Despite battling persistent ankle injuries, Ljungberg made 328 appearances across nine seasons, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

Here’s how the team is looking so far …

GK: David Seaman RB: Lee Dixon CB: Martin Keown CB: Tony Adams LB: Ashley Cole DM: Gilberto Silva CM: Patrick Vieira AM: Cesc Fabregas RW: Freddie Ljungberg

Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing the left winger.
