With football postponed for the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Arsenal’s all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing the right-sided centre back.

Here are the nominees …

3rd – Kolo Touré

It’s easily forgotten amongst his weird and wonderful moments how bloody good Kolo Touré actually was.

Signed from Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas, Touré went from utility player, to defensive midfielder, to right back, before eventually flourishing as the perfect modern centre back alongside Sol Campbell.

He left north London with 329 appearances to his name, having won two FA Cups and a Premier League title – playing a crucial role as Arsenal went the entire season unbeaten.

2nd – Steve Bould

Steve Bould was another typically hard English centre back, who formed part of the “famous four” backline under manager George Graham.

He was known for his reading of the game, aerial prowess and willingness to take everything (and we mean everything) in the challenge.

During 11 years and 248 appearances for Arsenal, he won three league titles, two FA Cups and a European trophy in 1994.

1st – Martin Keown

If Martin Keown has taught us anything, it’s that going back to your ex may not always be so terrible.

Having left Arsenal in 1986, he returned seven years later a much improved player and was a permanent fixture in their backline, adding speed and tenacity to an already impeccable back four.

Keown spent the best part of 20 years at Arsenal making 449 appearances, winning three Premier League and three FA Cup titles.

Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing Arsenal’s greatest ever … left-sided centre back.
