It’s official, adidas will be manufacturing Arsenal kits again from next season onwards.
After five years with Puma, the Gunners confirmed the switch on Monday morning.
It won’t be the first time Arsenal and adidas combine – they were together in the late 1980s and early 1990s. So, what better time to bring you the best of Arsenal x adidas?
The classic adidas three stripes look a little different on this one, coming across the middle of the arm rather than running all the way down the sleeve. There’s always something nice about an Arsenal kit with a splash of navy on it.
Arsenal didn’t perform well in the league in this kit but did win the FA Cup (1993), League Cup (1993) and Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup (1994), wearing the home shirt in all three finals.
Anfield ’89. The famous kit worn when Arsenal won the league at Liverpool on the final day of the First Division season.
What’s not to love about this? A classic Arsenal away shirt – yellow and blue. The use of the cannon instead of the club badge is a nice touch too.
A little bit forgotten and a little bit underrated. I’ve already mentioned how I feel about a touch of navy on an Arsenal home shirt and we can see that again here.
The ‘AFC’ on the collar is a nice addition to what is a very early 90s-looking shirt.
Arsenal won the league in the 1990/91 season, so this is another to remember.
The best home kit adidas have made for Arsenal so far? We’ll let it share top spot with the 1990-92 shirt.
One thing’s for sure: there’s a lot right with this one.
The only shirt on this list that wasn’t worn when Arsenal won a trophy, though it was used as the away shirt in the 1991 title-winning campaign.
Arsenal’s ‘bruised banana’ has become a cult classic, a shirt you’ll often still see at the Emirates Stadium on matchday or in the away end when Unai Emery’s side are on their travels.
The iconic pattern is now used on hats, scarves, phone cases, and phone wallpapers. Some released officially by the club, some not. They’re all wildly popular either way.
