Arsenal have had a £40m offer for Brighton’s Ben White turned down, according to Sky Sports and Goal.

The news comes shortly after David Ornstein revealed the north London club have rejected an initial £25m bid from Aston Villa for Emile Smith Rowe.

White has been linked with Arsenal of late but Brighton are said to want more than £50m for the defender, who is currently at Euro 2020 with England.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Athletic reported that Arsenal turned down an offer from Aston Villa for offensive midfielder Smith Rowe.

According to the Athletic, Aston Villa, who have already signed Arsenal target Emi Buendía this summer, made an approach for Smith Rowe overnight.

But the Gunners have “no interest” in letting their academy graduate leave the club and are working on extending his contract.

Smith Rowe’s current deal at the Emirates ends in 2023.
