Arsenal Women have signed 29-year-old Danish international defender Simone Boye Sorensen from FC Bayern Munich.

Sorensen won the Danish Player of the Year award in 2014 during a 75-game spell at Brondby and was at Rosengård under the Gunners’ new head coach, Jonas Eidevall.

She has over 60 caps for Denmark and made 32 appearances for Bayern Munich after joining them in 2019.

“It feels really good to be here,” Sorensen told Arsenal.com. “I needed a new start and I’m grateful that Arsenal reached out to me. I’m very excited to get started. It’s been a while coming now so I’m looking forward to it.”

Head coach, Jonas Eidevall said: “Simone is an experienced defender who bring a strong attitude and mentality to the team on and off the pitch. I am sure that she will be a great fit to the squad and we are looking forward to working with her.”
