Arsenal beat Monaco 5-4 on penalties, after it finished 1-1 in normal time, to lift the Emirates Cup.
Scorers: Nketiah 43′ Fofana 31′
With Arsène Wenger in attendance, Mikel Arteta named a relatively strong side here with Declan Rice making his debut in front of a home crowd.
The England international was given a starting berth at the base of the midfield with Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira in front of him.
It was a fairly even first half with both sides enjoying possession but neither really clicking in the final third.
But it was Monaco who found the back of the net first as Youssouf Fofana gave the Ligue 1 giants a lead on 31 minutes.
The French outfit weren’t ahead for long however, as Eddie Nketiah levelled things up with two minutes of the first half to go.
Into the second half and there were a flurry of changes that saw the game become disjointed.
The Gunners had a golden opportunity to find a winner late on as Jorginho played in Leandro Trossard with a superb pass.
But the Belgium striker couldn’t get his feet right inside the area and fired his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
It finished 1-1 in normal time but the home side won on penalties after Gabriel smashed home their final spot kick.
