Arsenal will once again be playing European football next season as the Gunners hope to clinch Champions League qualification on the final day of the season.

Mikel Arteta’s squad is the youngest in the league and, despite the inconsistencies his side have shown this season, the Spanish manager is set to continue backing his younger players.

“I am so grateful for what they have done, what they have brought to the team and to the club, especially in this moment,” said the 40-year-old. “We are going to stick with them and give them exactly what they need because they deserve that.

“They are not going to be kids for the rest of their lives, next season they will be more mature than they are this season and you have to start somewhere with those kids.

“What we cannot say is we want to use academy players and do that but then the moment where something goes a little bit wrong then we are not going to do anything with them.”

Arsenal head into the final game of the season with a slender chance of making Champions League qualification – needing a win and for rivals Tottenham to drop points.
