Arsenal want 12-goal 18yo midfielder from Ipswich
Daily Cannon
Tawanda Chirewa signed his first professional contract with Ipswich when he turned 17.
That deal tied him to the club for five years, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
Those initial five years are now up and the player is being linked with a move to both Arsenal and West Ham.
He became Ipswich’s second-youngest player of all-time in November 2019, aged 16 years and 31 days, when he came off the bench in the second half of a 1-0 defeat at Colchester United in an EFL match.
Connor Wickham, now 29 and playing for MK Dons in League One, holds the Ipswich record for youngest player.
Chirewa scored 12 goals for the Tractors’ u23s on their way to winning the league this season.
