Arsenal are all but certain to progress into the Champions League quarter-finals against PSV.

The Gunners thrashed PSV 7-1 in the first leg last Tuesday in a remarkable ruthless display in front of goal from Mikel Arteta’s side and the result effectively makes the return meeting academic, barring the shock of all shocks.

For the Dutch side to progress, they have to win by seven clear goals. A task that seems highly unlikely given that Arsenal have only conceded four goals in the entire competition so far this season.

Still, the north London outfit will have to guard against complacency to some degree as they look to finish the job and set up a quarter-final clash with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal go into the game on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Manchester United which has seen their Premier League title hopes fade even further away, whilst PSV recorded a much needed 2-1 win over Heerenveen.

Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven is scheduled for a 8pm GMT kick-off time today on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The match will take place at the Emirates Stadium.

With a healthy lead in the bag, Arteta may have one eye on Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Chelsea and therefore opt to rotate his Arsenal team for the second leg.

Ben White could start for Arsenal against PSV, while Raheem Sterling may also be handed a rare chance from the off.

Gabriel Martinelli made his return from injury as a second half substitute in the draw with Man Utd, but it may be too soon for him to start.

PSV will once again be without former Arsenal forward Lucas Perez as he is ineligible, Ricardo Pepi is a long-term injury absentee but Sergino Dest is available after making his long-awaited return from a serious knee injury at the weekend.

Arsenal vs PSV prediction

It’s hard to see PSV being as poor as they were in the first leg. Whilst the tie is ultimately beyond them, they have nothing to lose and will surely be out to give a better account of themselves.

If they sit deep and look to frustrate Arsenal, it could work in their favour as the Gunners have struggled against deep blocks in recent weeks.

However, Arteta’s side seem to save their best attacking performances for the Champions League and whatever team he selects should have enough to claim victory, though another big scoreline seems unlikely.
