The Gunners have won just one of their past five games, drawing three and losing one. They’re also winless in their past three home league games.

It’s been a torrid time for Arsenal, who were also dumped out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage by PSG, but they’ll be looking to end their season on a high starting with a victory here. A loss would see them drop to third and run the risk of finishing outside the top two for the first time in three years.

Newcastle lifted themselves back into the top five conversation thanks a good run of form, sitting third with two games left to play. The Magpies sit three points clear of sixth, and know two of their top five rivals face off on the final day. Newcastle have had a bit of a rocky patch away from home of late, winning just two of their past six games on the road. Those two victories came against West Ham United and Leicester City, two teams struggling. The other four games have come against teams in the top half.

They’ve won three of their last five games, however, and looked in good form last weekend when they beat Chelsea 2-0. That victory all but assured them of Champions League football next season but they’ll need to build on that result to ensure they secure a top five finish. Newcastle know a win in this encounter will see them sit second and ensure their dream of Champions League qualification next term.

Arsenal team news

Jorginho and Kai Havertz could both be back in contention by the time this game comes around, though they will need assessing nearer the time. Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel and Takehiro Tomiyasu are out for the season.

Newcastle team news

Joelinton and Jamaal Lascelles are expected to miss this game. Lewis Hall and Matt Targett are out for the season.
