Arsenal U21s record comfortable victory at Norwich City

Midfielder Michal Rosiak scored a stunning free-kick as Arsenal U21s cruised to a 3-0 victory over Norwich City on Monday evening.Manager Mehmet Ali handed midfielder Dan Casey his first start for the U21s, while trialist Marcell Washington retained his place in the starting line-up, along with 15-year-old centre-back Marli Salmon.Casey had Arsenal’s first chance of the match, striking a first-time effort at goalkeeper Vicente Reyes.Moments later, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji hit the crossbar after receiving a pass from Ismeal Kabia.Casey tested Reyes again with another first-time shot, but the Norwich goalkeeper gathered it comfortably.The hosts nearly took the lead when Noah Setford parried away Errol Mundle-Smith’s near-post strike.The Gunners broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when Rosiak smashed a free-kick into the top left corner.Midfielder Jimi Gower doubled Arsenal’s lead five minutes before half-time, heading home from close range after Jack Henry-Francis delivered a pinpoint cross into the box.Reyes prevented the visitors from scoring a third before the break, denying Andre Harriman-Annous from getting on the scoresheet.Norwich had a chance to reduce the deficit shortly after the restart, but Elliot Myles struck the woodwork from close range.William Sweet extended Arsenal’s advantage in the 51st minute, heading the ball across goal from Gower’s cross.Harriman-Annous and Henry-Francis had further opportunities to score but failed to hit the target.Norwich’s Dylan Jones forced a save from Setford before Arsenal substitute Khayon Edwards curled an effort wide.The Gunners have won four of their last five league games after winning just one of their previous five.
