Arsenal have received a boost ahead of their visit to Cologne as a trio of injury doubts were able to participate in Wednesday’s training session.

Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Calum Chambers all joined the group as Arsenal prepared for Thursday’s Europa League match against Köln.

Giroud, who has featured often in the competition this season, picked up a thigh strain during the international break and did not play in Arsenal’s North London derby win against Tottenham on the weekend.

The Frenchman is currently Arsena’s joint-top scorer in the Europa League with two goals.

Chambers has been out with a hip injury but his return may put him in contention for some action in the Europa League. The defender’s only first-team appearance this season has come in the EFL Cup.

Welbeck was on the bench for the win against Tottenham but is still working his way back to fitness after a groin strain.

Theo Walcott, meanwhile, was not able to train due to illness and is not expected to play against Köln.

The fitness boost will be a welcome one for Arsène Wenger, who knows that anything other than defeat in Germany will guarantee his side top spot in their Europa League group.
