Arsenal have been told that a ‘crazy bid’ would need to arrive to tempt Bayern Munich into selling former Manchester City star Leroy Sane in January.

The Gunners are set to be linked with several forwards in the coming weeks as it has been confirmed that Gabriel Jesus will be out of action for ‘months’.

Arsenal may opt to rely on the players they currently have to cover for Jesus. Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli are both capable of stepping in if required.

They also reportedly have the option to recall Folarin Balogun from his loan spell at Ligue 1 side Reims. He netted eight goals in 15 outings in the league before the World Cup.

Alternatively, Arsenal could decide to splash out in January to recruit a new attacking player.

Sane is one forward they have been linked with of late. Mikel Arteta worked with the Bayern Munich star during their time together at Man City.

The player would reportedly welcome a move to Arsenal but he is not pushing to leave Bayern Munich and it would take a significant bid to get him.

The 26-year-old is under contract until 2025 and he has been in fine form for the Bundesliga side this season. He has grabbed ten goals and six assists in 19 appearances this term.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that it would take a ‘crazy bid’ for Bayern Munich to sell Sane.

‘Arsenal are bound to be linked with a long list of attacking players now, but my understanding is that there’s nothing going on with Leroy Sane,’ Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

‘I don’t see Bayern selling Sane in January unless a crazy bid arrives – their plan is to continue with him.’

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge suggested earlier this week that reports linking Arsenal with Sane is an “indication of where they are”.

“It’s not something I’ve heard of [Sane to Arsenal], or I’ve not heard anything with those links, but I think for you to even mention him regarding Arsenal is maybe an indication of where they are at the moment as a football club and how things are,” Bridge told GiveMeSport.

“In May it was about how Arsenal bottled it, Tottenham have got top four, Arsenal have finished fifth.

“But I went on their pre-season tour of Orlando, and I have to be honest, they did look good, and people were saying, ‘oh it’s only pre-season’, and I thought, ‘well, they’ve got all their players in already, and if they hit the ground running, I think they could have a good season.’ And they completely hit the ground running.”
