One bookmaker has already paid out on Arsenal winning the Premier League – with one fan landing £14,000 as a result.

The Gunners beat Manchester United 3-2 on Sunday to move five points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

They’re now favourites to win the title.

However, the match against United only marked the halfway point of the season for Arsenal.

Nineteen games played, 50 points earned.

An incredible first half of the season but we’re only halfway. There is still plenty of football left to be played – especially when you consider they have to face Manchester City twice between now and the end of the season.

Bookmakers pays out on Arsenal to win the title

However, for one bookmaker, the title race is over.

That’s because Stake.com have paid out on Arsenal winning the league.

Arteta’s side started the season as 28/1 shots before a ball was even kicked. They’re now odds-on to life the trophy for the first time since 2003/04.

And Stake.com’s decision to pay out of the Gunners winning the league has seen one lucky fan land a cool £14,000.

If that supporter got odds of 28/1 on Arsenal winning the league, he must have placed a hefty £500 bet on the selection.

It’s now paid off and he can sit back and relax.

“We’re calling it early – Arsenal are this season’s Premier League Champions,” head of sportsbook marketing for Stake.com said. “We’ve seen enough of the Gunners to make the decision to pay out on all bets for them to be crowned champions, so fans who had the faith at the start of term won’t have to wait any longer to be paid out.

“Despite starting the season as the fifth most likely side to lift the title, they’ve stormed to the top of the table in style and we don’t see City, Manchester United or any other rival catching them, meaning we’ll hand over thousands in early payouts so the red side of North London can get the title party started early.”

One man who certainly doesn’t think the title is done and dusted is Arteta.

The Spaniard believes Arsenal’s performance against Man Utd proves they’re ready to compete with the best clubs in the world.

“I hope it does, not that they are champions, but that they are good enough to play against these teams and perform the way we’ve done,” Arteta said. “At the same time, don’t get confused.

“We talked about that in the last two or three days, that we know our reality. We still know how much we have to improve and we know what has taken us to the position that we are in today and we have to reinforce that every single day.”
