Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal linked Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia

Arsenal could reportedly look to outbid Liverpool and Chelsea for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer if they sell two ‘established’ players.

The 19-year-old is in high demand after an impressive campaign with the Saints last season, despite the fact they were relegated to the Championship.

Lavia made 29 Premier League appearances last term and is touted to become a top player as he gains experience.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have already made bids worth £45m and £48m respectively for Lavia but this still falls short of Southampton’s valuation of £50m.

This could give Arsenal an opportunity to make a move. They have already brought in Kai Havertz (£65m), Declan Rice (£105m) and Jurrien Timber (£38m) as they look to bridge the gap with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

They will only be able to afford any more major incomings if they offload some of their players, however.

According to the Independent, Mikel Arteta is keen to sign another defensive midfielder before the transfer window slams shut, with the futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho still in doubt.

Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal since the end of last season, with several Saudi clubs registering an interest in the Ghanaian international.

The Gunners will not entertain any bids less than £40m for Partey, however, and Arteta is happy to keep him should a bid in that region fail to materialise.

Jorginho, on the other hand, seems more likely to leave. As previously reported by Football365, the 31-year-old has received interest from Turkish club Fenerbahce and is thought to be keen on the move.

Now, according to talkSPORT, Arsenal could rival Liverpool and Chelsea for Lavia if they sell the midfield duo. Although, they note that their ‘best chance of raising substantial transfer funds comes from striker Folarin Balogun.’

The 22-year-old has returned from a season-long loan with Reims, where he scored an impressive 21 goals in Ligue 1 last term.

as he wants to play consistent first-team minutes, which seems unlikely at the Emirates.

Arsenal value Balogun at approximately £40m and West Ham, along with Monaco are keen on signing him.

If Balogun, Partey and Jorginho are sold, Arsenal may well rival Liverpool and Chelsea for Lavia’s signature.
