The draw for the last eight of UEFA’s premier club competition took place this afternoon. UEFA also determined who Arsenal would potentially face in the semi-finals of the competition if they are successful in the next round.
Jonas Eidevall’s side went into the draw unseeded due to them finishing the group stage as runners-up. The rules of the draw meant that they could not be paired with the winners of their group, European champions FC Barcelona. The Gunners had a 66% chance of drawing French opposition in the last eight, however, they were paired with German club VfL Wolfsburg, a side who dumped Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Chelsea out of the competition last week.
Arsenal will be at home for the first leg of their quarter-final tie on either 22 or 23 March 2022 before travelling to Germany for the second leg one week later.
Should The Gunners qualify for the semi-finals, they will face the winner of Quarter-Final 4 in the semi-finals, meaning that they could again come up against European champions FC Barcelona. The first leg of that tie would take place on 23 and 24 April 2022 with the return leg being staged on either 30 April 2022 or 1 May 2022.
The final will take place at the Juventus Stadium in Turin with a date yet to be confirmed. Should Arsenal get there, they would be classed as the ‘home’ team.
