Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard
Arsenal’s attacking injury woes run deep, and Mikel Arteta’s side could be five men short for their trip to the Netherlands. And four of those absentees come from their forward line.
Once again, the Gunners will have to make do without their star man, Bukayo Saka, as the England international is still recovering from his long-term hamstring injury.
Two more forwards dealing with major injuries are Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who will both be unavailable for the rest of the season. Gabriel Martinelli is also out.
Also absent for the Gunners is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has suffered a setback in his return from injury and now isn’t expected back until the end of the year.
Leandro Trossard has earned more minutes since Saka was sidelined late last year, and has played a hand in the goals for Arsenal amid their injury crisis up front.
In his first 17 Premier League games this term, the Belgian logged just four goal contributions at an average of 0.39 per 90 minutes, compared to five in the 10 games since Saka’s injury (0.56 per 90).
Trossard has managed more goals (four) and goal contributions (nine) in the league this season than any other fit Arsenal player.
He has also created the Gunners’ third-most big chances in the division (11) and accrued the second-most Expected Goals (4.25). With their scare attacking options, if anyone is likely to step up for Arsenal against PSV, it’s Trossard.
