Arsenal are reportedly eager to sign Raya to provide competition for current No. 1 Aaron Ramsdale.

Brentford are open to selling the Spanish international after he rejected several offers to extend his contract which is set to expire in less than 12 months.

Tottenham had expressed an interest earlier this summer and reportedly agreed personal terms with the goalkeeper before opting to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.

The Bees are hoping to receive £40million, which is why Spurs pulled out of negotiations and Arsenal’s opening bid is unlikely to match their London rivals’ expectations.

Mikel Arteta’s side have at least agreed personal terms with Raya, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano says the 27-year-old has informed Brentford he “wants to join Arsenal” with talks over a transfer fee “now expected to accelerate”.

Writing on Twitter, the Italian transfer expert said: “Understand David Raya has reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal on personal terms.

“Brentford have been informed by player side that he wants to join Arsenal — and talks between clubs over formula/price are now expected to accelerate.”

Frank told NBC Sports: “I hope [we get an offer], we are waiting to sell. David would like to go. That’s fine for us. If a club want to buy [him] they just need to find out the price. So I guess it should be simple, but apparently it’s very difficult!

“He’s worth £40m – I’d love to get that for him. He was one of the four best keepers in the Premier League last season.

“What is the price for a player with one year left? Declan Rice went to Arsenal for £105m – is that a fair price? And Harry Kane, one year left, and they’re talking about £150m?

“Anyway, it’s not up to me. It’s always complicated. Two sides of the coin when it comes to negotiations and we meet somewhere in the middle.”
