Arsenal striker says he ‘definitely won’t go on loan again’ as Arteta considers Leipzig, Milan interest | OneFootball

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has said he will “definitely” not leave the club on loan this summer after a superb spell with Stade Reims.

Balogun spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with French club Reims, scoring a very impressive 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

This came out of the blue after an underwhelming loan spell with Middlesbrough in the second half of 21/22.

Balogun’s year in France has done him and Arsenal a world of good, with Mikel Arteta’s side now able to cash in for a hefty fee if they wish to do so.

From a personal standpoint, the 21-year-old has proved he is good enough to lead the line for a top European club and is now officially a full United States international.

The international future of the Gunners striker was a massive talking point as Balogun could have represented England or Nigeria.

He did play for England at Under-17, 18, 20, and 21 levels but opted to make the one-time switch to play for the USA senior side.

After such a brilliant 22/23 campaign, there is a lot of interest in Balogun, including from RB Leipzig and AC Milan, and the youngster has provided an update on his future.

Balogun made it clear he does not intend to spend another season on loan and is not sure when he will sit down to discuss his future with Arsenal manager Arteta.

He said: “I’m not sure [about] the discussions that are going to take place.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen. But I’m just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family.

“What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again.”

It is a good time for US soccer and Balogun helped fire his nation to CONCACAF Nations League glory with a 3-0 semi-final win over Mexico and a 2-0 final win against Canada.

Balogun’s senior debut came against the former last Friday before netting his maiden United States goal against Canada on Sunday.

“It’s amazing. It’s a dream scenario for me,” the 21-year-old added.

“To be here now, the transition is amazing. I’m just overwhelmed with delight.”
