Arsenal star ‘waiting’ for Barcelona contact | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been tipped to move for Arsenal star Jorginho once more.

As much comes amid what is labelled as growing impatience on the part of the Italian international with his situation in north London.

Jorginho, for his part, has continued to play an important role for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal across the season to date.

Owing to the ongoing injury troubles of Thomas Partey, the 32-year-old, in fact, has established himself as a crucial cog in the Gunners’ engine room.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to hear that, as things stand, Jorginho is primed to move on upon the season’s close.

The former Napoli man’s current terms at The Emirates are due to expire in June.

And, to date, negotiations have not taken place between the parties regarding the terms of a renewal.

As per a report from Diario Sport, this has opened the door to a potential move to La Liga, and Barcelona, with a view to the 2024/25 campaign.

It is of course common knowledge that the Barca brass are on the lookout for fresh blood in the middle of the park.

With the Blaugrana’s options in the pivot role particularly sparse, signing a player of Jorginho’s unquestionable talents on a free transfer is therefore considered an attractive market option.

Not only that, but the Brazilian-born Italian, during previous talks with Barcelona, made clear his desire to one day line out in the famed colours of the Catalans.

Sport, in turn, conclude that Jorginho is essentially ‘waiting’ for contact to be made with his entourage.
