Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year deal with Arsenal, which will keep him at the club until 2030.

The new contract comes after the 18-year-old established himself in Mikel Arteta’s side last season. He made 26 Premier League appearances and started 11 times in the league, returning four goals and two assists. The attacker also played seven matches in the Champions League, scoring two goals as Arsenal reached the semi-finals.

Rumours had began circulating that the youngster may leave the Gunners this summer, with Chelsea amongst the interested sides. However, with his long-term extension, those suggestions have now been put to bed.

Nwaneri has always been regarded as a highly talented prospect. He has been with Arsenal since the age of eight. Back in 2022 he became the youngest player to ever feature in a Premier League match, aged just 15.

His contract extension comes after his teammate and friend Myles Lewis-Skelly also signed a new deal with Arsenal last month. The duo have risen through Arsenal’s youth ranks together and will continue to play together in the coming years.

Nwaneri spent the summer representing England at the Under-21 European Championships in Slovakia. The attacker featured in every match as Lee Carsley’s side won the tournament for the second consecutive time.

The youngster’s contract extension is another positive move from Arteta’s side this summer. The Gunners have just announced the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea. The winger is their fourth signing of the window, following Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal’s recruitment is not expected to end their either. A big deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres could be announced in the coming days. Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera is also believed to be on his way to the Emirates this summer.

These signings could be confirmed in the next week, before Arsenal head off to Asia for their pre-season tour.
