Arsenal snatch late win in Luton thriller

Scorers: Osho 25′, Adebayo 49′, Barkley 57′; Martinelli 20′, Jesus 45′, Havertz 60′, Rice 90+7′

Arsenal extended their lead at the Premier League summit after a pulsating 4-3 win with Luton Town.

Bukayo Saka made his 200th appearance for the north Londoners as they took on the struggling newcomers.

The England international played a key role in the visitors taking the lead as he teed up Gabriel Martinelli to roll the ball home on 20 minutes.

But the Hatters struck back soon after when Gabriel Osho rose highest to meet Alfie Doughty’s corner from the left-hand side.

Gabriel Jesus restored the balance of power for Mikel Arteta’s side on the stroke of half time with Gabriel Jesus heading home Ben White’s cross.

Rob Edwards’ side, however, would pull the Gunners level for a second time as David Raya fumbled a corner into the path of Elijah Adebayo.

Raya was at the heart of the hosts dreaming of a famous victory when Ross Barkley’s low shot squirmed under him just eight minutes later.

Yet Arsenal rallied again through Kai Havertz prodding home after being teed up by Jesus on the hour mark.

There was one final twist as Declan Rice headed a dramatic winner in the seventh minute of added time from Martin Ødegaard’s cross.

Wolves return to winning ways against Burnley

Scorers: Hwang 42′

Wolves returned to winning ways in a cagey affair against Burnley.

Vincent Kompany’s side travelled to Molineux hoping to build on their emphatic victory over Sheffield United.

The hosts, meanwhile, sought a response after slipping to narrow defeat at Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Their best first-half opening fell to Pablo Sarabia, who sent Nélson Semedo’s cross narrowly over with a first-time finish from close range.

At the other end, Daniel Bentley produced a superb double save to deny Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill after a mistake from João Gomes.

Gary O’Neil’s side eventually sparked a breakthrough just three minutes from the interval as Hwang Hee-chan slotted home from Matheus Cunha’s cutback.

A cagey second half saw Wolves appear the more likely to extend their advantage over the Clarets as they held on to secure maximum points and move to 12th in the table.
