Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for £45 million.

The 25-year-old, who put pen to paper on a five-year contract, becomes the Gunners’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.

“I’m so happy to sign for this big club,” Jesus said via the Arsenal official website.

“Since day one when I knew I could come to play for Arsenal, I was happy. I know the staff, I know some players, the Brazilian ones.

“I know there are a lot of top players. They are young and I’m still young as well, so I am so happy to be here to help. I come to help, to learn as well and to try to do my best.”

Arsenal are getting a proven and established Premier League marksman who netted 58 goals and provided 29 assists in 159 league appearances for Man City.

The 29-year-old racked up four league titles, four Carabao Cups and one FA Cup during his trophy-laden five-year stint with the Cityzens.

However, the arrival of the attacking duo of Erling Braut Haaland and Julian Alvarez meant Jesus was likely to drop down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

This paved the way for a reunion with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, who were in the market for a striker following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Jesus was linked with a move to Chelsea, but the Brazilian opted to join Arsenal as he was keen on working with Arteta again.

“We spoke a couple of times about the club, the players, the project and the future,” he added.

“I believe 100 percent in Mikel. I had a very good time with him before – he’s a very good guy and a very good coach as well.

“He helped me a lot [at Manchester City]. We would always stick together after the training sessions and do some finishing or something.

Jesus will wear the No 9 jersey at Arsenal, following in the footsteps of Lukas Podolski, Nicolas Anelka and Lacazette.
