Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Belgian winger Leandro Trossard.

The 28-year-old moves to the Emirates from Brighton and Hove Albion on a “long-term contract” for a reported fee of around £27m inclusive of add-ons. He will wear the number 19 shirt.

“It is good work from everyone at the club to complete the signing of Leandro,” Gunners boss Mikel Arteta told the club’s official website.

“He is a versatile player with high technical ability, intelligence and a great deal of experience in the Premier League and at international level.

“Leandro strengthens our squad as we head into the second part of the season and we’re all looking forward to working with him. We welcome Leandro and his family to Arsenal Football Club.”

The Premier League leaders moved for Trossard after missing on Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, who completed a move to Chelsea last weekend.

The Belgian international has looked likely to head for the exit door at the AMEX Stadium after falling out with head coach Roberto De Zerbi which has led to him not featuring for the Seagulls since December 31.

Trossard, who joined Brighton from Genk for €15m in 2019, has scored 25 goals and assisted 13 in 116 Premier League appearances so far.

Trossard has signed too late to feature in this weekend’s clash with Manchester United but could be in contention to make his debut against Manchester City in the FA Cup next Friday.
