Arsenal have set up a reunion with former manager Unai Emery in the semi-finals after comfortably dispatching of Slavia Prague.

Nicolas Pépé gave the Gunners the lead with a composed finish after shrugging off a defender to force the ball home at the near post before Alexandre Lacazette added the second from the spot.

Bukayo Saka put the game beyond doubt with a fine left-footed finish into the bottom all in the space of the opening 25 minutes.

Lacazette drilled home his second 13 minutes from time meaning Mikel Arteta will face off against his predecessor, who is now in charge of Villarreal, in the last four.

Manchester United booked their place in the final four after Edinson Cavani’s early goal built on their first-leg lead at Old Trafford.

Cavani volleyed home his 50th goal in European competitions after latching on to Paul Pogba’s knock down inside the penalty area, before Jesùs Vallejo turned Juan Mata’s flick on into his own net in the last minute.

The Red Devils have progressed to their fifth semi-final during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign as manager.

Roma overcame a spirited Ajax fightback to squeeze into the semis thanks to Edin Džeko’s decisive second-half goal.

Brian Brobbey came off the bench to bring the Eredivisie leaders right back into the tie with a chipped finish after getting on to the receiving end of Perr Schuurs’ raking pass.

Referee Anthony Taylor then ruled out Dusan Tadić’s goal out for a foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan after being referred to the pitch side monitor by VAR.

It was left to captain Džeko to seal his team’s place in the last four when he tapped home a deflected cross at the far post  with 18 minutes to go.


Villarreal 2-1 Dinamo Zagreb (3-1 on aggregate)

Unai Emery has guided yet another team to a Europa League semi-final after Villarreal breezed past Dinamo Zagreb at La Cerámica.

Paco Alcácer tapped in the first after being set up by Samuel Chukwueze before Gerard Moreno doubled the hosts’ lead after turning in the rebound from another Alcácer shot.

Mislav Oršić pulled one back for the visitors but it proved to be nothing more but a consolation goal.

Emery won this competition in three consecutive years as Sevilla boss in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
