Almirón has been a standout performer for Atlanta United since signing from Lanús in 2017, scoring 20 and assisting 31 in 60 appearances.
According to FOX Deportes, the Gunners held prior interest in the 24-year-old but have now arranged to pay €13m for him in the next transfer window.
Ruben Almirón – father of Miguel – stated on El Mundo radio this afternoon that Arsenal were interested in his son but no agreement has been made.
“The interest of Arsenal FC in my son is genuine,” he said. “They got in touch with his agent Daniel Campos.
“There is a mutual agreement between my son and his current club to leave when a good opportunity presents itself, but so far there is no formal approach.”
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Sevilla midfielder Éver Banega and Lille forward Nicolas Pépé.
