The Times report that Volz is leaving his role with Arsenal as chief German scout to join Julian Nagelsmann’s coaching team in Leipzig, as the Hoffenheim boss is also moving club this summer. Volz has been scouting in the country for Arsenal for the last four years but now wants to move into coaching.

The Gunners are planning to overhaul their scouting operations this summer anyway, according to the report, so this may not be the worst time for one or two people to move on.

Nonetheless, Arsenal have made a number of signings from the Bundesliga in recent seasons and they’ve generally all done pretty well. Bernd Leno has nailed down his spot in goal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the club’s top scorer, Granit Xhaka is one of Unai Emery’s captains and Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are also first choice.

It would be a shame to lose someone who helped contribute to those kinds of signings, but as long as the club can replace him effectively let’s hope it won’t be a huge problem.
