Arsenal are into the UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 final following a 3-0 victory over Swedish club Linköping FC this afternoon.

Kim Little saw a first half penalty saved before Caitlin Foord, Lina Hurtig and Stina Blackstenius scored in the second half to help The Gunners set up a Round 1 final against either Paris FC or FC Kryvbas on Saturday.

Arsenal could have had a dream start at the Linköping Arena when they were awarded a sixth-minute penalty for a hand ball in the box but Little’s spot kick was saved by Cajsa Andersson.

Lotte Wubben-Moy’s header was kept out by a combination of keeper and post later in the half before Frida Maanum’s shot forced an excellent save from Andersson.

Arsenal seemed like the only team likely to progress and they took the lead early in the second half. Moments after Amanda Ilestedt had gone close with a looping header, Foord was on-hand to convert from a Little cross.

Jonas Eidevall’s side made sure of their place in the Round 1 final nine minutes from time when Lina Hurtig headed home before Stina Blackstenius added gloss to the scoreline with a third goal in second half injury time.

Arsenal will face either Paris FC or FC Kryvbas in the Round 1 final at the Linköping Arena at 2pm on Saturday afternoon.
