Arsenal find themselves in the semi-finals of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League following a thrilling 2-1 aggregate victory over German club Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. The Gunners were beaten by a Lea Schüller goal in the first leg at the Allianz Stadium but a Frida Maanum wonderstrike and a Stina Blackstenius effort in the second leg pulled the tie into the Barclays Women’s Super League side’s favour back in North London.

An attendance of 21,307 was recorded for Arsenal’s quarter-final, second leg tie against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium, a UK record for a UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture. It seems likely that the record won’t stand for long with The Gunners almost certainly set to attract a higher crowd for their semi-final, second leg tie against VfL Wolfsburg in a month’s time.
