Arsenal restored their lead at the Premier League summit by seeing off Chelsea in Tuesday’s London derby.
Scorers: Trossard 4′, White 52′, 69′, Havertz 57′, 65′
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring inside four minutes with a low finish inside the penalty area after being teed up by Declan Rice.
The Gunners doubled their lead early in the second half through Ben White’s pouncing effort after Rice’s shot was deflected into his path.
Kai Havertz rubbed salt in the wounds of his old club by latching onto a sublime pass from Martin Ødegaard before slotting past Đorđe Petrović.
He went one better just eight minutes later with a rolled finish which cannoned off the inside of the Blues goalkeeper’s lefthand post.
White joined Havertz by also netting a brace as he met another exquisite Ødegaard delivery with a first-time volley.
Mikel Arteta’s side sit three points clear at this summit ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Everton while Chelsea languish in ninth place.
