Arsenal reject loan offer from Ajax for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have immediately turned down an offer from Ajax for Aaron Ramsdale. The 26-year-old England shot stopper lost the number one spot at Arsenal last season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer. Several sides in England and abroad have expressed an interest, with Ajax being the latest. However, the offer made by Ajax ‘didn’t suit’ Arsenal.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta made David Raya his first choice goalkeeper last term, and the Spaniard’s initial loan move was recently made permanent. All the signs are indicating that Aaron Ramsdale is surplus to requirements and a move away is expected this month. Ajax are showing concrete interest and are optimistic that they can still get a deal done.

Ramsdale’s aim is to play first-team football every week this coming season. At Ajax, the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United goalkeeper would play regularly under new head coach Francesco Farioli. He’d most likely start over current keepers Diant Ramaj, Jay Gorter and Remko Pasveer. A link-up with former England teammate Jordan Henderson is definitely still on the cards, and this is one to look out for as deadline day approaches.
