According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have rejected an opening bid from Olympique de Marseille for Eddie Nketiah (26). The opening bid by the Ligue 1 club was in the region of €27m.
The Premier League club have deemed the initial proposal from Marseille to be still short of their asking price and not enough to let the English striker leave the Emirates Stadium. As reported by L’Équipe, OM have agreed personal terms with Nketiah and the 26-year-old is keen to make the switch to the Stade Vélodrome this summer.
Les Olympiens are keen to complete a deal to sign the Arsenal forward quickly. This is because they fear the potential interest of Premier League clubs preventing them from completing a deal for the former Leeds United loanee, L’Équipe understands. As a result, Marseille are likely to present the Gunners with a new offer for Nketiah in the hope of reaching an agreement swiftly.
