Arsenal may have lost their grip on the title in the final weeks of the Premier League season, but they are preparing a new charge next season to reach silverware once again. They have also seemingly realised that the lengthy injury of William Saliba may have been a catalyst to their downfall in the most important games of the season.

With this in mind, keeping the French defender at the club seemed like a priority. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the Gunners have reached an agreement with Saliba for a 4-year contract extension to keep the centre back in North London until at least 2027, as he was entering his final year of his current contract.

Missing the last 11 games of the season was painful for the French international, who was not called up with Les Bleus this month, giving him time fully recover before next season. His contract extension coincides with those of his teammates Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale and his centre back acolyte, Gabriel. The Frenchman now only needs to put pen to paper.
