“Thomas continues to be assessed and is expected to be back in training in approximately three weeks,” the club confirmed on Thursday morning.

Elsewhere, Eddie Nketiah is expected to be out for four weeks with an ankle injury also sustained in the Chelsea friendly, while Gabriel Magalhães is still recovering from a knee injury sustained while on Olympic duty with Brazil.

“Gabriel is currently being assessed and is aiming to be back in training in the forthcoming weeks,” say the club.
