Marcelo Flores has arrived in Mexico to complete a permanent transfer away from Arsenal, according to reports.

Earlier this week, Charles Watts was among those to report that Marcelo Flores was closing in on a move to Tigres in Mexico, a permanent transfer to end his association with Arsenal.

Later on Thursday, Fabrizio Romano wrote that the agreement was complete for Flores to join Tigres permanently, with the player set for a medical and a four-year deal on his arrival.

The Evening Standard now report that Flores has arrived in Mexico, and he’s set to complete a deal worth around £2m.

Flores had a couple of years left on his Arsenal contract, with the Gunners activating their option to extend earlier this year.

The Standard carry quotes from Flores after his arrival in Mexico, with the youngster telling reporters: “Happy with this new stage and ready to start the new stage with the best club in Mexico.”

The deal will reportedly be done by Saturday, putting Flores in line for his debut next week.

Tigres are next in action in a league clash away to Atlas on Monday, September 18th at 02:00 BST, or Sunday night local time.

Flores spent last season on loan with Real Oviedo, making 15 appearances for the second-division Spanish side.

The 19-year-old’s minutes were very limited, playing just 685 across the course of the entire campaign, the equivalent of less than eight full 90s.

Another loan would have been a risk, and Flores will hope that making a permanent transfer instead will give him a platform to push on in his career now.
