Arsenal target Mohammed Kudus in action for Ajax

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, who has been in fine form for the Dutch club recently.

Mikel Arteta has already brought in Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this summer and the Gunner’s transfer business is far from over.

Arsenal will most likely have to sell players before they can buy anyone else, though, due to FFP regulations.

Sporting director Edu is reportedly expected to turn his attention to outgoings before making any new additions.

The likes of Kieran Tierney, Cedric Soares, Nicolas Pepe, Albert Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Rob Holding are all players who could be sold this summer.

Also, Thomas Partey is another player who is attracting interest. Several Saudi clubs have the midfielder on their radar, as well as Manchester United. A sizeable bid would be required to force a sale, though.

If he, along with some others, is sold, this could allow Arsenal to sign new players ahead of the coming season.

According to the Daily Mail, one player the Gunners are considering a move for is Kudus.

A versatile player, the Ghana international has the ability to play as a central or attacking midfielder, or as a winger on occasion. This is something that has caught the attention of Arsenal scouts, as well as Man Utd’s.

The report adds that Kudus is also of interest to Brighton. The attraction of playing Champions League and playing in a team hopeful of challenging for the Premier League title next season ‘could emerge as a factor for the Ajax player,’ however.

The 22-year-old made 30 league appearances for Ajax last term. In the process, he netted 11 goals and made four assists.

Kudus was particularly impressive in the Champions League, too, netting four times in six outings for the Dutch giants.

Interestingly, Everton came close to signing the Ghanaian last summer, but a twist saw the Toffees miss out on his signature late in the window.

Now, a move to the Premier League is once again on the cards for Kudus. First, though, Arsenal will have to make an adequate transfer offer for his services.

The Daily Mail do not state how much Ajax will demand for the attacker. He is under contract until 2025, so they are under no immediate pressure to sell.

A sizeable offer may convince Ajax to part ways with Kudus, though. Transfermarkt value him at approximately £40m, so a bid in excess of that amount is likely to be required.
