Arsenal are planning to stage a trophy parade the day after the season ends if they win the Premier League title.

The Gunners last won the English top-flight in 2004 and are currently top of the league table after 36 games.

However, they are only a point ahead of second-placed Manchester City who have a game in hand.

They need to win their last two games against Manchester United and Everton and hope the reigning champions drop points against Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham United.

Arsenal are hoping one of their London rivals do them a favour when they take on Man City and are preparing for an open-top bus parade if that happens.

As shared by The Athletic, an email sent to residents from Islington Council’s assistant director of civil protection said: “I am writing to you to inform you of a potential Arsenal Football Club parade on Monday, May 20, at 5.00 pm.

“In the event that Arsenal Football Club are successful in winning the Premier League, a bus parade would take place. It would start and finish at Emirates Stadium, going via the Town Hall on Upper Street, Islington.”

The parade will return to the stadium by 7.00 pm and the Arsenal squad will make a brief appearance on the podium above the club shop until 8.00 pm – when the celebrations are scheduled to end.

The Gunners followed the same route the last time they won the league and will do so again if they are successful in their bid to end their 20-year title drought.

The title could be decided on the last day of the campaign if Arsenal secure a win against Man United on Sunday and Man City pick up maximum points against Fulham and Spurs.
